Tim Durso's two second half goals (one from Pat Kasten) closed out the scoring. Neal Manahan and Mehron Beheshti shared the duties in the net.

Saturday, October 06, 2007

LA 2, Deerfield 2

LA traveled to Deerfield's narrow, divot-filled football stadium, and came away with a 2-2 tie. Deerfield started off with the wind at their backs and scored about 10 minutes in. The Ramblers had a few good attacks, but came away emptyhanded as Deerfield led 2-0 at the half.

A rejuvenated Loyola team took charge in the second half, tied it up, hit the crossbar a few times and pounded the keeper as Deerfield played the clock and got away with the tie. Second half goals by Aleks Urosevic and Dylan Remick. Mehron Beheshti in goal.
Loyola's record goes to 12-2-2; Deerfield, 11-4-4.

Thursday, October 04, 2007

LA 2, St. Rita 1

After a grueling 3 hour bus ride, Loyola was late arriving to St. Rita, and the Ramblers never really got on track. Dave Cushwa passed to Aleks Urosevic for the first tally. St. Rita later scored on a penalty kick after a hand ball. A second half goal was scored by Peter Bolton, thanks to an assist from Cody Busic. Mehron Beheshti did a fine job in his goalkeeping debut for the Ramblers.

LA 5, Fenwick 1

Loyola's Senior Night was a success with a 5-1 dismantling of the Fenwick Friars. Fenwick struck first with a strong wind at their backs about 3 minutes into the match. The Ramblers came back aggressively with consecutive goals by Dave Cushwa (one on a perfect setup from Michael Berens) to re-take control of the contest before halftime.

The second half was all LA. Aleks Urosevic's goal after a Tommy Belton pass started things off, and was closely followed by Belton's header off of a Cushwa feed. Tim Durso had a few breakaways but was held back by some offside calls, and Mike (08) McGuire closed out the scoring after breaking loose from 2 Fenwick defenders. Seniors Clayton Condon, Pat Kasten, Dan Wzrosek and Peter Bolton all played well.
Loyola improves to 11-2-1 and remains unbeaten in the Catholic League, while Fenwick drops to 11-4-2.
